2011 World Series Champions
February 3rd 2011 20:51
The 2011 season is upon us. In a little over a month from now teams will be at spring training. The fight to be the best will be on and i am going to tell you my top 5 picks to be the best.
New York Yankees: The Yankees are being overlooked in 2011 because of the Boston Red Sox. New York is never a team to overlook and with the core of their team returning expect another playoff return. The Yankees will take back the division and maybe even a World Series trophy.
Texas Rangers: The Rangers have a very stong lineup in a very weak division. Texas should be able to outplay mostly every team in basball which could lead to a parade in Arlington.
Atlanta Braves: Will the Braves make the playoffs again in 2011? No doubt. Atlanta added Dan Uggla who brings the much needed power to the lineup. Martin Prado and Chipper Jones will be healthy for a playoff push, hopefully. The bullpen has the tools to be as good as any team around. Atlanta also has the minor league talent to trade for a bigger bat or a stronger arm if needed. 4 World Series Championships could be a possibility for The Bravos.
Tampa Bay Rays: Even with the Sox and Yanks in the same division i don't expect Tampa to lose as many games as people and experts think. A very young team lead by Jeremy Hellickson, who will have a breakout season, that will only get better as the season rolls on. Rays will finish September strong and even if they don't make the post season will have great momentum going into 2012. Tampa needs to win this year so they can get a new stadium and more revanue to build a team that can compete every year.
Los Angles Angles: Angles are coming off of a very dissapointing 2010. Carl Crawford did not go to LA but to Boston instead, but Vernon Wells is there instead. LA will lose the last remaining member of their 2002 World Series team in Scott Sheilds. Jared Weaver returns as the teams ace. My personal favorate move of theirs is Hideki Matsui not returning. The owner of the Angles said he would do whatever it takes to get them back in the playoffs. With a revamped team they could pray their way in to the post season.
For all the gamblers out there like me i will give you three teams to take one will be short odds, one with medium odds, and the last with long odds.
Short= New York Yankees 6 to 1 current. They opened at 4 to 1. (Smart Money Bet)
Mid= Atlanta Braves 22 to 1 current. Opened at 18 to 1
Long Shot= Washington Nationals 80 to 1 current and opened.

We all know the pitching staff that Philadelphia has. Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay are very good at going deep in the game. This will help the bullpen when it comes late in the season in which they will be a lot more rested then the rest of the league. Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels will do their part in this staff and we should see this Philadelphia team be very dangerous this year if they all stay healthy. Look at last year they won 95 games with at least one of the studs on the DL through the season sometime last season.
I am looking forward to this season and we should see some great baseball in the NL with SF and that outstanding pitching staff and the Braves picking up some big names in the off season and with Philadelphia and their stacked team. The AL should be just as good with Boston making some big moves, the Yankees always have a great team and now Texas has shown great things last year and the Twins are always very dangerous.
