Balitmore Orioles
March 19th 2010 17:10
The Baltimore Orioles will play it's 110th MLB season. The Orioles have been in a downfall since 2000 and have been making major changes basiclly every year. 2005 they were really hot at the beginning of the season, but the season just fell apart after with Palmerio's steriod scandel, Sosa haveing a horrible season, and Ponson getting a DUI. 11 of the Orioles players suited up for the World Baseball Classic but together they just sucked again. 2008 and 2009 have just been rebuilding years.
Lineup
1. 2B Brian Roberts- 2x All Star
2. LF Nolan Reimold- 2009 Rookie of the Month
3. CF Adam Jones- 2009 All Star
4. RF Nick Markakis- 362 RBIs
5. C Matt Wieters- 43 RBIs
6. 3B Miguel Tejada- 6x All Star
7. DH Luke Scott- .264 average
8. 1B Garrett Atkins- 479 RBIs
9. SS Cesar Izturis- 2005 All Star
The outfield is the vital element in Baltimore. All three of the stars are under the age of 27. Markakis had a super 2009 expect that to contiue into 2010.
Rotation
1. Kevin Millwood- Pithced no hitter in 2003
2. Jeremy Guthrie- 377 strikeouts
3. Brian Matusz- 4.63 ERA
4. Brad Bergesen- 7-5 record
5. Chris Tillman- 39 strikeouts
Millwood and Guthrie are the veterens of the staff, so unless there is something that doesn't meet the eye 2010 will be a long year for this staff.
Prediction: I usually look for weaknesses in a team to see what they can improve to be a World Series contender but that is just too easy with Baltimore. The only team that i think picked up their biggest weakness in the off season. Tejada coming form Houston was a great move. He still won't help get to the main event but will help them not finish last. 23 games back in 4th place in the AL East. 76-86 record.
