Boston Red Sox
March 20th 2010 16:06
Do the Boston Red Sox have enough offense to win the World Series? That same question was asked when Manny got traded two years ago. Jason Bay then took over and everyone in beantown was asking Manny who?. Boston does not have a run producer to fill in for Bay. They added Mike Cameron and Adrien Beltre instead. Both guys would have to put up over 20 homers to even come close to replacing Bay.
Lineup
1. LF Jacoby Ellsbury- 2007 World Series Champ
2. 2B Dustin Pedroia- 2008 MVP
3. C Victor Martinez- 3x All Star
4. 1B Kevin Youkilis- 2008 hank Aaron Award
5. DH David Ortiz- 4x Silver Slugger
6. RF J.D. Drew- 2007 World Series Champ
7. CF Mike Cameron- Hit 4 homers in one game 2002
8. 3B Adrian Beltre- 2x Gold Glove
9. SS Marco Scutaro- 150 career doubles
Buchholz was great last year after replacing Wakefeild mid way through 2009. Clay's time has advanced. Wakefeild on the other hand was named to his first All Star team before getting injured. Wakefeild doesn't want to be a spot starter. Dice K had a 5.76 ERA in 2009 so he could be pen bound if he struggles again.
Rotation
1. Josh Beckett- 2x World Series champ
2. Jon Lester- 2008 Hutch Award
3. John Lackey- 2007 ERA champ
4. Daisuke Matsuzaka- 2x World Baseball Classic MVP
5. Clay Buchholz- Pitched a no hitter 2007
Prediction: The only thing i see lacking in the Sox is the pen. Starters are the best in basball, but the bullpen will have guys that do not wanna be in there. Wagner and Saito is gone. Papelbon struggled in 2009. 2nd place behind Yankees as usual. 6 games out 86-76 and hoping to see the wild card spot.
