Braves/Phillies

Who is going to make it farther this year the Braves or the Phillies? Being from Philly and a Phillies fan that is the only question you hear. I never hear anybody say hey the Phillies are 2 games up in the Wild Card. All season its been how many games they are behind the Braves.
As i write theis the Phils are 2 games back of the Braves and a game and a half up in the Wild Card. The real test comes Sept 20-22 when they face off for the last time in reagular season play in Philadelphia. In this Phillies fans mind the Phils should take that series and hold onto it going into the postseason.
For the Phillies to go back to a 3rd straight World Series your two leadoff hitters need to be consistant. Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino both of whom have been struggling from the lest side. Joe Blanton hasn't lost a game since July 21 and let up 2 or less runs in 4 straight starts. If he keeps that up the Phils are sure to roll right on in to the playoffs. Roy Halladay looks to be struggling as of late. He should be able to turn it around and help the Phils in the last month of the season. Since coming back from the DL Ryan Howard has been god awful. If he dont find his swing the Phillies may not be NL champs again. Mike Sweeney came up big with his first homer as a Phil. Lets hope he hits more and they start him a little bit more. Cole Hamels got some run support in his last game. That continues that means a 3rd straight World Series appreance for the Phillies.
The closer is a major part of any MLB team. Billy Wagner is that for the Braves to win the NL East. Wags is the all time strikeout leader in the left handed reliver fashion. That is the one guy you dont't want to see come in at the end of a game, unless of course you are a Brave. Derrek Lee is a guy to give you a one run lead with his bat. Lee has been hurting lately and if he goes on the DL which is doubtful will hurt the Braves chances in this late part of the season. Tim Hudson is the best pitcher on any of the two teams at home. Hudson will have to be great at home if they want to hold off the Phillies. Troy Glaus looks like he is a day or two away from returning. Lee and Glaus is going to be a deadly combanation in the feild and at bat. Tommy Hanson has a 5 game losing streak. Something that he needs to fix right now before the playoofs start.
Now to answer the question. I am really torn in this. I am a huge Phillies fan but the Braves just seem like they never lose. Both teams are missing key peices to their puzzles. Phillies without Jamie Moyer. Kyle Kendrick in his place. Braves without Kris Medlen. Craig Kimbrel in his place. Pitching beats out hitting any day in my book. So i have to go with the Phillies to go farther than the Braves. Not because i am a Phils fan but because they are just a better team.
