Los Angeles Dodgers
March 16th 2010 16:17
The Los Angeles Dodgers defended their NL Wet title and earned the best record in the National Leauge in 2009. The dodgers made it all the way to the NLCS and got defeted once again by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Lineup
1. SS Rafael Furcal- Roy Campanella Award Winner
2. CF Matt Kemp- 2009 Silver Slugger Award
3. RF Andre Ethier- 2009 Silver Slugger Award
4. LF Manny Ramirez- Led AL in RBIs 1999
5. 1B James Loney- 265 career RBIs
6. 3B Casey Blake- 146 career home runs
7. 2B Blake DeWitt- .257 career average
8. C A.J. Ellis- 1 career RBI
Pretty much everything outside of the outfield in Los Angeles is not that great. The infield is a mix of old and disabled. Then there is the leadoff guy Furzal who is a mixture of both.
Rotation
1. Clayton Kershaw- 285 career strikeouts
2. Chad Billingsley- 2009 All Star
3. Hiroki Kuroda- 2004 Olympic Gold Medal
4. Vicente Padilla- 2002 All Star
5. James McDonald- 3.65 career ERA
The Dodgers have a rotation that will hold the attention of any baseball fan. The Dodgers have guys who are all number 2 or 3 callibar guys. No body on the rotation are proven aces yet. Kershaw and Billingsley will both make a statement to be an ace by the end of 2010. Two veterens will be backing up the two youngsters in Kuroda and Padilla. The last spot in the rotation is still up for grabs but i pencilled in McDonald for now. The Dodgers need to open up their wallet and turn this rotation from good to great.
Prediction: While the Dodgers enter the 2010 season as the West favorite they are not an overwhelming one. With the power that they have in the middle of the lineup they will be a hard team to beat. The Dodgers will more than likely make it back to the NLCS and come up short for the third straight year. Need to go out and find a better second baseman than DeWitt. Best record in the NL again with 116-46 but come up short again of the World Series.
