Milwaukee Brewers

March 11th 2010 15:12
The Milwalkee Brewers ended 2009 in third place in runs scored. In 2009 the Brew Crew got alot out of rookie Casey McGehee. Greg Zaun will take over ass catcher, while Alcides Escobar takes over at shortstop for J.J. Hardy. Ryan Braun and Prince Feilder will anchor the offense.

The pitching can not be any worse in 2010 than it was in 2009. Not learning their lesson last year by signing pitchers to huge deals and them not preforming, this year is more of the same with Randy Wolf. Milwalkee also brings back Doug Davis who had great years here in Milwalkee. Davis has a problem with walks. Yovani Gallardo, who is an excellent pitcher, will join Wolf and Davis at the front of the rotation. After them 3 the Brewers are hoping fro the best out of anyone else they decide to throw in the rotation.

The bullpen is more like a money pit this year. LaTroy Hawkins will join the team after an outstanding year in Houston. Trevor Hoffman will stick around Milwalkee a little bit longer. And David Riske may be ready for this years opening day after having Tommy John surgery in 2008. Todd Coffey and Mitch Stetter will be the two set up men for Mr. Hoffman. Overall it is not a bad pen just a very expensive one, and as long as Carlos Villanueva and Hoffman keep pitching well.

Lineup
1. 2B Rickie Weeks- 182 career RBIs
2. 3B Casey McGehee- 59 career Runs
3. LF Ryan Braun- Led NL in Hits 2009
4.1B Prince Feilder- 2009 Home Run Derby Winner
5. RF Corey Hart- 2008 All Star
6. C Greg Zaun- 1997 World Series Champion
7. CF Carlos Gomez- Third youngest player to hit for the cycle
8. SS Alcides Escobar- .310 career Average

Rotation
1. Yovani Gallardo- 325 career strikeouts

2. Randy Wolf- 4.13 career ERA
3. Doug Davis- 90-97 career record
4. Jeff Suppan- 2006 NLCS MVP
5. Dave Bush- 637 career strikeouts

Prediction: The Brewers have gratifying young talent. Escobar could be good in a couple years, but to win now he needs to be replaced. The signings of Wolf and Davis should help this year. With them you know what you are getting out of them no guessing game. Gallardo and Braun are both still young, so you have a great foundation to build on. The trick will be to get through the next couple years and let all your talent develop. Fifth place finish this year 21.5 games behind the leader of the Central. 65-97 record
