New York Yankees

March 21st 2010 15:54
Are the New York Yankees better than they were in 2009? They are the best choice right now to win it all with the addition on Javier Vazquez. His numbers in 2009 were exceptional compaired to all Yankees starters. Offense will be younger with Granderson,Johnson, adn Gardner. The Yankees offense will be just as dangorus as it has been in years past.

Lineup
1. SS Derek Jeter- 10x All Star

2. DH Nick Johnson- .402 On Base Percentage

3. 1B Mark Teixeira- 2x All Star

4. 3B Alex Rodriguez- 2009 World Series Champion

5. C Jorge Posada- 5x Silver Slugger

6. CF Curtis Granderson- 2009 All Star

7. 2B Robinson Cano- 2009 World Series Champ

8. RF Nick Swisher- 2009 World Series Champ

9. LF Brett Gardner- 2009 World Series Champ

A faster and greater defensive player in Gardner will replace Damon in left. Gardner will have compititon for that starting spot though and it will be coming from Randy Winn, Marcus Thames, and Jamie Hoffman, who was the Yankees Rule 5 Draft pick. Winn is coming off his worst season with the Giants, so he will not be much compititon for that spot. Thames has the power that Gardner lacks. Hoffman has no major league experiance.

Rotation
1. CC Sabathia- 3x Warren Spahn Award

2. A.J. Burnett- 2009 World Series Champ

3. Andy Pettitte- 18 career postseason wins

4. Javier Vazquez- 2004 All Star

5. Phil Hughes- 2009 World Series Champ

Experts all belive that Hughes is improved and should start ove Joba Chamberlin. Joba is best when he goes all out. In 2009 the Yankees started Chamberlin, but had his pitch counts very limited. It was more like having a reliver start the game.

Prediction: Money is a good thing to have in any sport. The Yankees have bought their way to a championship last year and will do the same this year. Only thing i think they are lacking is another starting pitcher. The rotation is solid but can use a solid number 5.2010 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS. 1st place in the AL East. 88-74 record.
