NL MVP 2010
September 1st 2010 15:57
Joey Votto or Albert Pujos. Which one of the two will walk out with the NL MVP award? Both of their teams are vying for a spot in the playoffs. It looks like only one of the two teams will make the postseason, and whoever leads their team will most likely get MVP.
Joey Votto is 26 years old and has been playing in the majors for 4 years. Votto this year is batting .326 with 32 homers and 92 rbis. He is a major threat in the triple crown catagory this year, but so is mr. Pujols. Joey was voted to his first All Star game this year by the fans. He will also be on the cover of the new Sports Illustrated which comes out Aug 30.
Albert Pujols is a 10 year MLB vet and is 30 years of age. As of right now he is bothered by a sore ankle, but it does not look like he is being effected by it. Pujols started his MVP run on opening day with 2 homeruns. In late May he hit double number 400 off of Nate Robertson. Albert had his 36th multi homer game at the end of May, and tied Stan the man's franchise record the follwing month. He has hit 30 or more home runs in all of his 10 seasons. Pujols hit carrer homer number 400 earlier this year against the Nationals.
Looking at everything over the past year its hard to pick the NL MVP. The Reds will most likely win their division so that gives Votto an edge. Pujols is always a threat, and after breaking all the records this year MVP would be a great addition. Either one of them could be a shoe in for MVP but you also have to look out for Carlos Gonzalez who is also haveing an MVP calliber year.
My pick for NL MVP is Joey Votto. By no means am i an expert in baseball. I am just a fan who watches nothing but games and MLB Network. Votto to me this year has just been dominate. Pujols is always in the talk but his numbers are down this year at least for him. Joey Votto deserves the MVP not because the Reds will make the playoffs but because as of early September he has out played Albert Pujols.
