Phillies vs. Marlins overview:
Game 2:
The Phillies lose this one 6-2 when Dan Uggla from the Marlins hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th. Two similiar pitchers, both young and lefties, faced off in tonights quick game. Cole Hamels had a total of 13 strike-outs for the Phils, but gave up a homer in the first inning to Jorge Kantu. Then things get tied up 1-1, and Kantu hits another homerun in the 7th, again against Cole Hamels. Hamels still pitched a great game despite these two runs, and he pitched through the 8th inning. Then, in the top of the 9th, the Phillies tie things up 2-2. At this point, as a Philllie fan, it seemed that extra inning would be eminent.
This isn't good news if your a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, but it isn't the end of the world either. It narrows that gap between the Marlins and the Phils, and even though the Phils lost this series, they really need to win tomorrows game. The Phils are still in the lead for the NL East to date. Marlins are still in second. The battle continues.
Check in later for a report of game 3.
