The Phillies and NL East Standings
June 26th 2008 14:25
The Philllies finally win against Oakland, after a season high 6 game losing streak. Yep. The Phils have lost 8 games out of their last 10. This is uncharacteristic for the 2008 season they had been having that put them at the top for the NL East. Nevertheless, as Phillies fans should know by now, it doesn't seem to come easy.
Here are the current Major league Basball - National League East Standings:
Phillies W-43 L-36
Marlins W-40 L-37 GB-2
Mets W-38 L-39 GB-4
Braves W-39 L-41 GB-4.5
Nationals W-31 L-49 GB-12.5
So the Phillies still remain in the lead, but they need to watch their backs with Florida two games behind. Then there's the Mets. Sure their 4 games back, but the Phils came back last year with a similiar scenario to beat the Mets and take the lead. Then we have the Braves just a half game behind the Mets. Earlier in the season when the Phillies were blazing hot, I would have said that they definitelly are going to win the NL East. I still would like to back them up on that. At this point in the season, anything could happen. One thing is for certain. The Phillies cannot afford to have another L streak like the one they just had.
The Phils play Oakland today and it is scheduled to be an afternoon game. They won
4-0 last night. The Phils need this win today.
