The Phillies play cards
June 15th 2008 01:23
The outcome in last night's game was the Phillies hammered the Cardinals, 20-2.
Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell of the Phillies hit single run homeruns in the first inning driving the score up to 3-0. That's back to back to back homeruns. The Phillies just kept driving runs in the whole game in most of the innings. Kyle Kendrick was pitching an awesome game holding the Cards in place.
I know that I bashed Ryan Howard somewhat in my last post, but he had a great game with two homeruns, and 5 RBIs. Nice job Howard! I don't know if playing in front of his hometown crowd had anything to do with it.
Tony La Ruso was was far from being content at seeing his team lose this way as steam erupted from his ears when the Phils kept gaining more runs. Fuel was added to the fire even further when late in the game, Ryan Howard was hit with a pitch on the leg, and the pitcher was ejected. La Ruso stormed out onto the field and in a fit on rage disputed the umps call by tossing his sunglasses into the air and swatting them down. La Ruso got ejected too.
This game is the second one this season where the Phils scored 20 runs. They beat the Rockies 20-5 in a game back in May.
Today's game was a different story. The Phillies lost this one with a score of 3-2. I really didn't get to watch this game, but evidently all the runs from both teams happened early in the game. No runs were scored after the 4th inning from either team. Pat Burrell is accountable for the Phillies only two runs when he hit a two run homerun.
The final game of this series will be played tomorrow afternoon.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads!
