The Phillies score 3 to win
June 13th 2008 04:20
The Phillies played the Marlins on a scorching hot Florida night, winning the final game of the three game series, 3-0. The win keeps the Phils in a 3 game lead in the NL East with Marlins in second. The Mets and Braves also lost their games which keeps them at bay.
Jamie Moyer had a tremendous night tonight getting credit combined with Lidge for the shut-out win.
Things were 0-0 until around the 6th inning, when the red capped players caught a break scoring two consecutive runs on a wild pitch that lead to another wild throw. The fast base running also made this possible. Another run was brought in later in the game. The Phils were able to get the outs they needed to conclude things with the Marlins and much credit needs to be given to Moyer, who at 45, still has an arm on him. He lasted 8 innings and probably could have finished the game, but Charlie seems to pull him a bit earlier than he would some of the young guys. Makes sense I guess and Moyer doesn't seem to mind. Lidge finished things out in the 9th inning and this guy has been incredible too with around 17 saves now.
One thing about this game that I'm not happy with when it comes to the Phillies is the amount of times they are leaving runners in the scoring position stranded. In fact, this happened throughout this whole series, but in this particular game, I'm thinking of at least two times late in the game that the bases are loaded on one out and they can't get a run in. Then, the next batter sends an easy play ball in the infield for a double play. I know it will happen from time to time in baseball. But it seems absolutely ridiculous when it's happening over and over in a string of games. They have to have one of the highest numbers in MLB for doing this. This really needs to get tightened up if they want to go the distance in the play-offs. And don't even get me started on Ryan Howard. Does this guy burn the hell out of anyone else out there besides me? If so, let me know.
That's all I have for now. Please stay tuned for more Phillies rap on BASEBALL ZOO.

What's up ahead for the Phillies?
The Phillies will embark on another 3 game series at St. Louis with the Cardinals. Then they come back to their homestand where they are going to be in some tough battles against Boston. That's all I have for now. Please stay tuned for more Phillies rap on BASEBALL ZOO.
