Triple Crown, .400 hitter, 30 game winner, or 56 game hitting streak

September 9th 2010 14:19
In the post steriod era of baseball, wouldn't it be nice to see something we haven't seen in a long while. A triple crown in both leauges could happen in 2010. A .400 is not a far possibilty either. 56 game hitting streak? Not out of the question. 30 game winner? Highly doubt in 2010.

It's September and the playoff race is heating up, but so is the triple crown talk. 2010 could see the first triple crown winner in 43 years. Miguel Cabrera could do it in the American Leauge, and Gonzalez, Votto, and Pujlos in the National. The Rockies are looking for another September run. To most players the playoffs are what matters, winning the award in the process is just an added bonus. Having four contenders for the triple crown is very rare. You have to lead the leauge in AVG, HRs, and RBIs.

28 major league players have reached the .400 batting average title. No one has hit .400 since Ted Williams in 1941. 2010 could be a different story. Josh Hamilton, who is having an amazing year could do it. I no he is hurt but is getting ready to return Sept. 10-12. If he comes back and hits like he has been 2010 will see a .400 hitter.

Will anyone win 30 games in 2010? With only about 21 games left that is a no. CC Sabathia only has 4 to 5 more starts left with 19 wins and he is the closest. Ubaldo Jimenez had 15 wins at the all star break, but sizzled off after with 18 now, and there is only 3 weeks left in the season. If you include playoffs in the win totals than CC would have a better shot. Denny McLain will still stand as the last guy to acomplish the 30 game feat.

Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak will not be broken in 2010. Josh Hamilton was the closest this year with a 23 game streak. Same thing as in the .400 catagory he is hurt. With 21 games left he could start a streak, but would have to break it in 2011. When Josh comes back and starts another streak we could see a .400 hitter, but both could be damn near impossible.

I think that the only one we can see this year is a triple crown. Me personally would like to see the .400 hitter. Cargo has the best shot i think as i write this to win it. Don't forget there is still alot of baseball to be played before we get a winner. And as the old saying goes anything could happen.
