Washington Nationals
March 7th 2010 19:43
The Washingotn Nationals goal in 2010 is to finish at .500. The team has improved greatly this offseason. The defense can't do any worse than last year. Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is a great move to help their young pitchers come along. Cristian Guzman will saty at second base with the big pickup of Adam Kennedy.
June 21, 2010 is the date that Stephen Strasburg is set to make is MLB debut vs. the Royals. He was their first round pick in 2009, and signed a 15.1 million dollar deal before even throwing one pitch to a major league hitter. Strasburg will bat right handed, and stands at 6'4" and weighs 220 lbs. His fastball has been clocked at 103 mph, but is usually 95-97 mph. 79-81 mph is how fast Strasburg's curveball has been clocked at.
Jesus Flores had an outstanding 2009 season before getting hurt. The Nationals do not know if or even when he will be healthy in 2010. So they went out and signed veteren catcher Pudge Rodriguez. He got a 2 year deal after having a sad 2009. Many fans and experts call I-Rod one of the greatest defensive catchers in the game of baseball.
